To Sustain its stature as one of the premier public elementary schools in the Division of City Schools, Manila is the most special gift of Padre Mariano Gomez Elementary School (PGES) to its stakeholder, especially the school children. The determination and passion to continually serve its clienteles with quality and efficiency is unwavering.

PGES’ success is largely attributed to the good relationship between the school and its partners. Shared governance and accountability, collaboration, synergy, submission to the will of the magnanimity, cooperation and transparency are being practiced to avoid conflicts and issues. However, PGES won’t stop in pursuing greater heights. It dreams of becoming a school whose best practices are institutionalized and can serve a benchmarks to local and foreign educational institutions.

History

Padre Mariano Gomez Elementary school was first established in 1915. It was formerly called Sta. Clara Primary School because the site which measures 18,757 square meters belongs to the Sta. Clara Estate. Driven by the school personnels’ passion to simulate pupils’ educational needs, the Gabaldon building was erected and housed 19 primary classes and 19 primary teachers with Miss Vicenta Mata as principal. In 1926 Miss Soledad Gomez the third principal of the school renamed it. Padre Mariano Gomez Elementary School. When war broke out, the school compound was used as Japanese headquarters. The school was reopened in 1945 with 24 classes held in a stabled located at Constancia Street because the school was partly damaged during the war.

Reconstruction of the school buildings began during the liberation. Later on, six buildings were constructed through the concerted efforts of Mr. Simeon Cunanan and Mr. Leonardo Bautista. Former principals of the school. As year pass by, other buildings were constructed and were equipped with modern facilities which made it one of the pilot schools in Manila.

Through the years, PGES have been led by various administrator who contributed to the countless success of the school in their own unique ways. Teachers, parents and pupils have likewise continued symbiotic relationships that have made PGES a school to reckon with.



Vision

Padre Mariano Gomez Elementary School dreams of Gomezians who passionately love their country, family and school. And whose values and competencies enable them to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to building the nation. We are a learner-centered public institution that continuously improves itself to better serve our stakeholder.



Mission

To protect and promote the right of every Gomezians to quality, equitable, culture-based, and complete basic education where:

1. Pupils learn in a child friendly, gender-sensitive, safe, and motivating environment

2. Teachers facilitate learning and constantly nurture every learner

3. Administrators and staff, as stewards of the institution, ensure on enabling and supportive environment for effective learning to happen

4. Family, community, and other stakeholders are actively engaged and share responsibility and accountability for developing life-long learners.



Objectives

1. To produce quality graduates who are equipped academically and morally to face the challenges of secondary and tertiary education

2. To provide pupils with differentiated programs and activities that will adapt to their skills, potentials and interest.

3. To create corps of well-trained and self-propelled committed and caring facilitators of learning

4. To incultcate among teaching and non-teaching personnel the value of quality service ability to all stakeholders at all times

5. To cultivate a culture of shared responsibility and accountability among all stakeholders that will ennance empathy, sensitivity, and synergy.
